Tanzania is a stable and safe nation that has not been
plagued by tribal wars or attacks against tourists like many other nations
in Africa. The people are warm and friendly to all visitors and like
to think of themselves as the Switzerland of Africa.
However, the country is poor and many people live below the
poverty line and they face many challenges. Less than 30 percent of
the population has drinkable water in their homes. Most survive on
subsistence farming.
One way of helping is to support one of the many water
development projects like those driven by Rotary International.
Another way is to visit. Tourism has become a major component of the
local economy.
Weather and best times.
